Our
Values

Since 1998, AKANJO has cultivated exceptional textile savoir-faire, guided by a simple conviction: excellence can only endure when it is driven by responsibility, respect and human commitment.

People
First

At AKANJO, people are at the heart of everything we do. The well-being, personal fulfillment and professional growth of our teams guide our decisions every day.

Beyond regulatory requirements, we have developed a comprehensive social responsibility program encompassing healthcare initiatives, prevention and screening campaigns, employee support services, social activities, dedicated listening and counseling programs, as well as a strong commitment to workplace safety and ethics.

Deeply rooted in its local community, AKANJO prioritizes local employment and contributes to the economic vitality of its region through the creation of direct and indirect jobs, while supporting local businesses, transportation networks and community services.

AKANJO is committed to preserving and promoting the artisanal crafts and traditional techniques that enrich Madagascar’s cultural heritage. Art embroidery, Lunéville embroidery, featherwork, pleating, raffia craftsmanship and developments based on natural materials are passed on with dedication and precision, ensuring the continuity of rare skills while fostering more responsible forms of creation.

The École des Métiers d’Art

In 2021, AKANJO joined forces with the Akamasoa association to establish the École de Formation aux Métiers d’Art, a project reflecting the company’s social, environmental and economic commitments.

The school provides free vocational training to individuals facing economic hardship, equipping them with high-value textile and artisanal skills that create lasting employment opportunities and facilitate professional integration.

Through this initiative, AKANJO actively contributes to the transmission of savoir-faire, the creation of local opportunities and the promotion of Madagascar’s rich artisanal heritage.

Our Commitment
to the Environment

Respect for natural resources is an integral part of AKANJO’s vision. Our environmental approach is founded on responsible resource management, the careful control of water and energy consumption, and sustainable waste management practices.

At the same time, AKANJO is accelerating its energy transition through the large-scale deployment of solar energy and the development of responsible supply chains. Particular attention is devoted to the raffia sector through traceability systems, sustainable harvesting practices, reforestation programs and close collaboration with local communities.

Before introducing any material to our clients, we conduct rigorous environmental, social and regulatory assessments to ensure responsible sourcing and compliance with international standards.

Building Responsible
Supply Chains

Transparency and traceability are essential to the long-term sustainability of our activities. Before proposing any new material, AKANJO conducts comprehensive environmental, social and regulatory studies to meet the growing due diligence requirements of international markets and ensure full supply chain transparency.

Over the years, AKANJO has invested extensively in structuring Madagascar’s raffia sector through field research, partnerships with local communities, sustainable harvesting practices, reforestation programs, traceability systems and support for harvesters.

These efforts contribute both to the preservation of natural resources and to the creation of sustainable economic opportunities for local populations.
